KLUANG: Police have uncovered the operations of a syndicate using a magistrate's court complex here as the meeting point to supply drugs to inmates to be taken into the Simpang Renggam detention centre.

The drugsare passed to detainees brought to the court for remand or court cases.

The detainees then swallow packets containing the drugs or hide the packets in their anus before returning to the prison to sell the drugs for as much as five times the value.

The syndicate is believed to have an extensive network as orders are placed either through the “couriers” attending court cases or syndicate members who pose as “loved ones” coming to visit the prisoners.

Police uncovered the syndicate’s activities when a team of officers from the Kluang district police headquarters arrested a syndicate member in his 20s in the court toilet with drugs worth thousands of ringgit several days ago.

Sources said the man was waiting in the toilet for his couriers to pass them the drugs. Packets of drugs were seized during the 10.30am raid.

OCPD Asst Comm Fawzi Arshad confirmed the arrest of a man in the court toilet. - Sumber
